Genetic Subtyping (DNA Fingerprinting) Genetic subtyping, also referred to as DNA fingerprinting, is the only accurate means to discriminate among members of the same species. During subtyping, a microbial culture is examined in sufficient genetic detail to either distinguish it from other isolates belonging to the same species or to determine it to be closely related (e.g. the same sub-species or strain). DNA subtyping methods are the only definitive means to locate sources of microbial contamination, which enables our customers to make rapid and informed decisions that ensure product quality and minimize unnecessary economic loss.
